Day trip from Fes to Volubilis and Meknes

We start your day with a pick-up from your accommodation in Fez, 9m away. Then set off to explore the ancient imperial city of Meknes known as « Moroccan Versailles ». Visit historical sites such as the impressive city walls, huge gates and the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail. In its heyday, Meknes had more than 50 palaces, more than 20 city gates and a city wall about 45 kilometers long. Morocco and the city of Holly in Meknes, where you can enjoy a stunning view of the medina.

The tour begins with a visit to the city walls with the huge gate of the 17th century Berdaïne Bab, Bab Khemis. Explore the city further through the stables (Rua), lofts (HERI) and stud farms. Stop at the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail, the only mosque that non-Muslims can visit for a long time in Morocco.

Drive through the famous Bab Mansour El to the great Hedim Square. The Dar Jamai Moroccan Art Museum across the square offers a wide variety of handicrafts for you to admire.

Then we visit the ancient Roman ruins of Valubilis, where you will spend some time exploring the 2000-year-old site and learn about life during the Roman Empire. Continue to Moulay Idris.

On the way back to Fes, the driver will take you to the medina views of Borj North or South upon request. End your tour at your hotel.
