Day Trip from Fes to The Middle Atlas Moutains
Enjoy the beauty and fresh air of the Central Atlas region on a full-day tour from Fes, located at 1,350 meters above sea level in the Atlas Mountains.
On this day trip, you will also discover Azrou, a Berber village built at an altitude of 1250 meters and home to the first inhabitants of Morocco, the Berber tribe. Look at the Berber herds grinding flour and working in their trades, especially tapestry and carpentry. If interested, we will visit a cooperative of women weaving Berber rugs to discover the secrets of these beautiful Atlantis rugs.
A little further is Morocco’s best preserved cedar forest, where Barbary macaques can be seen jumping. You can give them peanuts and take pictures. Along the cedar forest path, you may even see Atlas grey threads or wild boars.
We will stop for lunch in a local restaurant where you will taste a traditional Moroccan Tajjine, then we will continue our journey to explore Ifran or the « Little Switzerland », cross the flowery avenues and admire the French architecture of this picturesque little town.
