2 days from Casablanca to Fes
Day 1: Casablanca to Fes via Meknes ans Volubilis
Your private driver from Casablanca will pick you up from your hotel and we will start the journey to Fez. You will get to Meknes via the highway and have a few stops along the way for a coffee and a bath. Meknes is about a 3 hour drive from Casablanca.
You will visit the attractions of Meknes. This city was founded in the 9th century when the Zenata Berbers of the Meknassa tribe settled on the fertile plain of Sais and a series of small villages developed along the banks of the Oued Bou Fekrane. The visit will start at the famous Bab El Mansour, one of the most beautiful in Morocco, it was the last architectural project carried out by order of Moulay Ismail, then the mausoleum of Moulay Ismail, the medina, the great mosque and the granaries of Moulay Ismail.
And after that, you will head to the Roman city of Volubilis, which was inhabited during the Neolithic period and occupied by the Carthaginians and then the Romans, developing a flourishing oil trade around 40 BC. C. And this historic place will have a local guide to discover the house of Orpheus, the house of the other Dionysus. Lunch will be at a local restaurant.
And after that you will go straight to Fez. We will spend the night in a riad in the old town.
Day 2: Tourist guide of Fes then return to Casablanca
At 9:30 am, you will meet a local guide at the riad and start exploring the oldest of Morocco’s imperial cities. Fez is an important religious, intellectual and cultural center. It is also famous for its traditional handicrafts and, due to the particularly high reputation of its university, it is known by many as « the Athens of Africa ». You will start with the royal palace with its « hermetically closed doors, its eggshell facade and pine green Saracen tiles, then the Mellah (Jewish quarter), the blue door, and after that you will go to Fes El Bali (the old medina). . You will start with the Andlous district to see the Andalusian mosque which was built in the 9th century, then the Kairouyiene mosque which was built in 857. And after visiting Fez, you will return directly to Casablanca.
