12 Days From Tangier To Marrakech Via Erg Chebbi

Day 1: Tangier

After meeting you at the port / airport, we will transfer you to the hotel and you will have a free program for the rest of the day.

Day 2: Tanger - Chefchaouen

After breakfast, we will go to Tetouan. On our way, we will visit some traditional villages in the Jbala region. The region has a lot to offer, such as the aroma of the breeze and the fresh air around the hills. We arrive in Chefchaouen and we will visit the medina walking through the city center, known for its famous square and its markets. We spend one night in a local hotel.

Day 3: Chefchaouen - Volubilis - Meknes - Fez

Today we leave for Fez, we will visit Volubilis or « walili », the Berber Roman ruins. Then we go to Meknes, another imperial city with its historical sites. After visiting Meknes, we cross the most attractive places towards Fez, where we will spend the night.

Day 4: Full day in Fez

After breakfast, we will explore the medina (old town) with a local guide. Fez is one of the largest and oldest cities in the world. We will explore the narrow streets with the fresh aroma of spices and colorful rugs, in addition to many other artistic products of Morocco. We will visit the Palace of the Kings, the tanneries, potters and other craftsmen lining the sides. Then we will have lunch in a traditional restaurant in the heart of the medina and later we will end the tour and return to our hotel.

Day 5: Fez - Ifrane - Azrou - Midelt - Erfoud - Merzouga

That day, we will start our trip to the southeast through the Middle Atlas, passing by Ifrane « the Moroccan Switzerland » then Azrou where we will make a stop in the famous cedar forest, the largest in Morocco to see and play with the Barbary apes. From there we drive further south passing several towns and you will have the chance to see nomads living in tents along the way. Then we will stop at Midelt where you will enjoy your lunch. Later, we will continue our journey to Merzouga via the Tizi N’Talghomt pass (1907m) while enjoying the panoramic view. You will also have a stop to enjoy a panoramic view of the Aoufous palm grove along the Ziz river. At the end of the day, we will continue to the captivating dunes of Erg Chebbi, (Merzouga). Arrival at the hotel where you will spend the night

Day 6: Merzouga - Erg Chebbi - Merzouga

After breakfast at your riad, you can explore the area a bit before starting your camel ride; You will visit the Gnawa, originally from Mali, Senegal and Sudan, in their village of Khamlia, where you will learn about their music and way of life. later we will drive to the desert area to meet nomadic families and explore their way of life. Today our lunch will be a traditional Berber meal (Berber pizza). You will also have the opportunity to visit the old town of Rissani, foundation of the Alaouite dynasty, the current ruling royal family in Morocco. Rissani is surrounded by around 360 ksar (a walled city with many towers) and has a large souk (an open market), which is held three times a week. Formerly called Sijilmassa, it was the meeting place for salt caravans from Timbuktu in Mali. Here you will walk through the souk, selling spices, vegetables and fabrics. Return to the town of Merzouga. In the afternoon, you will ride a camel, guided by an experienced camel driver, to explore what is hidden among the highest sand dunes in Morocco. Dinner will be served in front of the tent where you will spend the night.

Day 7: Merzouga - Rissani - Alnif - Toudra Gorges - Valley of Dades

After watching the sunrise over the dunes of the Sahara and having breakfast, we will return by camel to our hotel or Riad. We will continue our journey through Rissani, Alnif and turn towards the Toudra Gorge. You will follow the Calanques des Canyons. We continue to the Dades Valley where we will spend the night in a riad or a local hotel.

Day 8: Dades Valley - Ait Ben Haddou - Marrakech

Today we will depart towards the High Atlas Mountains via Ouarzazate and visit the Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, one of the film sites of Morocco. This site has attracted several filmmakers and many award-winning films have been made, including: Lawrence of Arabia, Jesus of Nazareth, The Gladiator and many more. Our lunch will be served in the Kasbah and in the afternoon, we will cross the Tizi n Tishka pass in the Atlas Mountains to Marrakech, where we will spend the night in a riad.

Day 9: Marrakech - Essaouira - Marrakech

Today, after breakfast, we will head to Essaouira, a coastal city and a historically prestigious point in Morocco. After your arrival, you will discover ancient streets, museums and castles, as well as bronze cannons. In the afternoon we return to Marrakech and spend the night there in a riad.

Day 10: Full day in Marrakech

oday, we will spend the whole day visiting Marrakech, “the magnet of travelers” to discover this beautiful city and tourist center of Morocco. We will visit the medina, its souks, the famous Jamaa el Fna square, the Saadian tombs, the Menara gardens and the El Bahia and Badia palaces. We will stay here at the hotel in Marrakech tonight.

Day 11: Marrakech - Casablanca - Rabat - Asilah

Today we go to Rabat, and we will pass through important cities such as Casablanca, Rabat (capital of Morocco) where we will visit the Hassan II Mosque. Then we head north until we reach Asilah, an elegant city on the coast, glowing blue. We spend the night here in a hotel.

Day 12: Asilah - Tangier

After breakfast, we will head to Tangier to finish our tour seeing some of the attractions, then we will take you to the ferry port or the airport before your scheduled departure.
